About Mandy Pallock

Mandy used to travel the world teaching photography and digital imaging classes with a Christian photography school. Now she’s settled in San Antonio with her happy little family, running her own photography business and helping run the Life Purpose Planning organization. She writes and shares and drinks coffee, not necessarily in that order. Mandy’s goal is to live purposefully and passionately through each phase of life. She passionately believes people who understand and live out their God-given purposes will change the world.

Overzealous Brushing

My idealistic, focused, ministry-working, 70-hour-a-week self constantly ignored the reality of the dentist. Don’t tell anyone, but for over ten years, you would have never found me inside a dentist's office or sitting in a hygienist's chair for that all-important bi-yearly cleaning. At first, I was just too busy serving. That's what I told myself. [...]

2019 According to the Medes and the Persians

In a familiar scene from classic movies, a herald rides into the far flung town, on the outskirts of the empire. He brings news from the castle and the king: he is mustering for battle, and every house must send a representative to fight in the king's battles. Or the courier is a tax collector, [...]

Got Any Ketchup?

To my children's consternation, I had just announced chicken for dinner. Internally, I prepared myself for the clean-your-plate dance that I knew the evening would entail. No one likes chicken in my family. Well, perhaps "no one” is a little strong. But outside of Chick-fil-A and the corresponding magical Polynesian sauce, the individuals in my [...]

Grasping at Waves

Approximately 5,942 waves on the North Padre National Seashore have been jumped, ridden, and splashed through in the past 24 hours. Sand castles, shovels, digging in the sand, reading a paperback, running on the beach and lounging on a towel—these days have contained everything good and right and beautiful about a weekend at the seashore. [...]

Wear It on Your Sleeve

This summer I finished the 752-page history of Rome, "Caesar and Christ" by Will Durant. It traces the history of the Roman civilization and the rise of Christianity from their beginnings to A.D. 325. Full of fascinating history and interesting anecdotes, the book charts the stories of Commodus, Trajan, Hadrian, Tiberius and the rest like [...]
